Good morning,

I found a website for Fr Richard McAlear http://www.frmac.org/.

God works though Fr Richard who heals the people who come to his Masses. He is based in the U.S. but I would love to have him come to Australia! His website mentions he has already been here.

Have any of you heard of him / seen him?

I found this video of him on YouTube.

What do you think?

Can't say i've heard of him...has his Bishop (or other bishops) made any announcements about him? Don't get me wrong, the power of prayer is unequaled and unquestionable but it's the other 'funny' business that sometimes accompanies this 'super-healer' stuff that concerns me:-) These days you really need to be prudent.

Having 'healing' Masses in general are always beautiful...and its not just the physical healing that's important! Trust me, i've been in a wheelchair for almost 15 yrs now and it bothers me a whole lot less than being outside of God's grace!

Have a look at 2.27 in the clip. The lady in the Yellow that supposedly faints when the priest touches her fixes up her jumper as she is being layed down on the ground. Pretty strange if your meant to have fainted right? And I deeply apologise if I sound to sceptical, but isn't this scene a little too similar to a pentecostal convention?? I mean true healing wouldn't be that dramatic would it?

I found out about Fr McAlear through an article on catholiconline.net.
Have a read of this http://www.frmac.org/inthenews2.htm
I haven't heard of any announcements from the church renouncing his actions or condoning them, and 'healing ministry' certainly doesn't remove the need for constant prayer and prudence.

The difference is that he doesn't attribute any of his works to himself - all to Jesus.
It would be wonderful if Jesus was working through Fr McAlear, healing peoples lives as He did 2000 years ago.

I read those articles, and they use the title reverend and pastor for father McAlear and another catholic priest. Are those titles given to catholic priests??

A Catholic priest may use the title reverend, and he does act as a pastor (shepherd).

On a personal note, I am always a little suspicious of those who shy away from masculine/patriarchal terms.

That's what I was suscpicious of aswell. The whole thing just seems a little suscpicious to me. I don't want to sound judging, I just don't have a good feeling about it. According to his ministry schedule, he is coming out to Australia around August or September. Maybe Guardians should bring him in for questioning!! lol!

The video seems kinda creepy to me.

Bring him to Guardians - that would be awesome.

hi friends in Christ. I am Fr John Kady a Maronite Missionary based in Argentina. Plz ‎don't mind me adding to the thread...
As I was exploring your beautiful ‘Mission’ your ‎concern about Fr Richard caught my attention. What came to mind was what Our ‎Lord said to His disciples, do not be afraid! ..after all, he is a genuine priest is he not? ..he is ‎performing before the Lord in the Tabernacle..etc.. is he not? ..don't get me wrong, I am a critic's critic myself..yet, I know very well i would't want to be caught-out limiting God's ability..

And if anyone thinks this is all lofty..to them i say, at least learn from wisdom, he is ‎innocent to us limited humans until proven guilty..

..personally, as is to you all, the highest form of miracle is celebrating Our Lord in Mass, ‎nevertheless, according to one of the greatest Saints that truly knew Jesus of ‎Nazareth St John The Beloved informs us, the readers, that Our Lord assures us that ‎if we believe in Him greater works we will do in His Name..(Jn. 14:12) ‎

Let the priest speak for himself and leave room for the Lord of miracles to manifest ‎in your life in any way He chooses to do so.. It pleases the Lord to communicate to ‎His children.. As we are being cautious beware we don’t throw out the baby with the waterbath.. it is good to be vigil!

p.s...‎yes i watched the Video..it was too quiet to be Pentecostal ;-)
p.s.s. Apologetically speaking; I strongly believe that Satan cannot manifest so boldly ‎before the Lord..‎

Yours in Christ
Fr John LM

Hi there,

My Cousin and I just got back from Eagle Vale's Mary Immaculate Church where Fr Richard McAlear performed the healing Mass and Blessing. It was an amazing and Holy experience. It was a Sacramental Mass and we both received a Blessing.

I hope that you all experience the same thing my Cousin and I did tonight. He will be Performing The Healing Mass at Sefton Wednesday 25th August, 7:30 pm, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church,
6 Kerrinea Rd Sefton.

God Bless you all.

I'm glad you received a blessing Jacqueline :)

Can you tell me what you mean by a "Sacramental Mass"?

Thanks Dave. Maybe I worded it wrong. He mentioned that the Healing was Sacramental.
The Eucharist was present the whole time.

Perhaps he meant that the (prayer of) healing was a sacramental, like a blessing with holy water, or wearing a Scapular etc.?

Possibly - I dont remember exactly-
He used Holy Oil (which smelled like bakhooor) and made the sign of the cross on our foreheads.
The whole Mass was beautiful.

Oh, you mean he gave the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick?

jacquelinetrad

No it was different than the Sacrament of Annointing the sick. It was to do with Healing / Blessing.
Let me find out for you exactly.

Dave,

Sacramentals
http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__P58.HTM

I found this article on Sacramentals.
Fr Richard McAlear uses the laying on of hands, Holy Oil and the Sign of the Cross.

He also urges the congregation to go to Confession which is on at the same time as the Healing Mass.
