Can God grant a grace to someone without them knowing?

Paragraphs 1996 to 2005 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church address this very question. I highly recommend making reference to those paragraphs because the question could be answered with a 'yes' or a 'no' depending on the type of grace you're referring to.
