a) Are we all encouraged to have spiritual directors?

b) Do spiritual directors have to be priests or is it preferred that they are?

c) If your spiritual director who you were dealing with all the time gets called to move to another country etc, should we seek another spiritual director?

a) Yes.

b) No, but a spiritual director who is a priest can give the additional benefit of Sacramental Confession during or in conjunction with direction.

c) If you no longer have access to them then it would make sense to find another, but the access does not have to be frequent or face to face.

Paragraphs 2685 to 2690 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church speaks of spiritual directors under the heading "Servants of Prayer". You can read more here: http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__P9H.HTM
