Does God love the souls in hell?

Hi Melanie,
There needs to be a distinction made before this can be answered.
God could have created things that He did not in fact create (I think those winged chimps from the Wizard of Oz would have been cool, but in His wisdom, God chose not to create them).
That means that the things God did create, He created because He wanted them to be.
He wanted them to be! What God wants, He loves, since God is love.
This is why in Genesis God looks at all that was made and says it is good - it is good because God loves it into existence.
Same deal for us. God did not have to create us, I mean you and me as individuals, not "us" as in humans in general. Nonetheless He chose to create us. He loved us into existence. This means we are intrinsically good. It does not mean that we are necessarily morally good, because we can, and often do, make sinful choices.
We need to understand the difference between a soul existing and the will of the soul.
God loves the souls in hell, but hates their corrupted will, which opposes and blasphemes against Him.
Does that help?
