Hey guys I have a pentecostal friend of mine who told me something wierd the other day...He told me (and I seriously don't believe this) that when the Muslims call God Allah, that their meaning of Allah is Satan or Lucifer or one of those names...That to me is ridiculous because in the Arabic language and my parents and grandparents have said this many times, they call God Allah in Arabic. So what is with this Protestant teaching? Is it true? Has anyone else heard this theory??

I've heard similar claims myself.
I think they are wrong for the same reason you do.

In my family's mother tongue, Maltese (a blend of Latin and Arabic), "Alla" (no 'h') is used for "God".

I wonder what these Pentecostals would use for "God" when they worship in Arabic. "Rabb" is Lord, but what about "God"?

Why let the facts get in the way of a proud man's good idea?

The Word God translated to Arabic reads 'Allah' or if u like 'Alla' transliterated.. note the 'h' only represents how the Word is in Arabic and is pronounced in formal events and addresses only, or might i add, in countries who consistently speak formal Arabic..
Having said that guys, Satan only wishes to be called as such..this is his personal dilemma, thinking that he who beats God/Allah will be called God/Allah.. the funny thing is that..the answer is self-evident....Have you ever watched a cat chase its own tail thinking what a wonderful feed this will be..?
..who ever your mate is Kevin, lacks heaps of info..or its an attempt to derail you mate..i suggest that you introduce him to the forum..what do you reckon guyz?

As stated above, the word for God in Arabic is Allah/Ullah..This is why people get confused in what religion we are when we say the word Allah/Ullah, because the word is commonly associated with the Islam faith as it is in Arabic. However in the Lebanese Catholic Maronite faith ive have been told and read, that the specific name for God is Eleh (I dont know how to write it with the proper sounds that corresponds in Lebanese, Phonetically). We see this when reciting the Creed in a Lebanese Maronite Mass, the very first sentence says "NOO'MEN BEE EELAHEEN WAHID - I believe in God"
And in regards to the question, im calling on God when i say his name not the Devil lol :D

Sorry guyz but "linguistically speaking" in formal, there is no distinction between Islamīs Arabic and Maroniteīs' Arabic in Lebanon it is the same school... as a straight out name it is said: 'Allah' ....in some cases, how the name Allah is expressed changes depending on where the name is situated in the text 'gramatically' then the name Allah would be pronounced as "ILEH" ...nevertheless, as a straight out noun the name is pronounced in Arabic universally as Allah.

Hey guys, thanks for the great info. I have tried inviting my protestant friend many times and have got a no every time. I think he is scared of finding out something that contradicts what his pastor keeps telling him.

Make a deal with him: your friend comes to a Mass and you go to one of his church's services. If Catholicism's a lie, then what's he got to lose, right?

..be certain friends, if tony's protestant mate, or anyone for that matter, are 'true searchers' of The Truth, 'from the heart and not only there head', the Lord will see to it through His chidren (us) and/or through signs there personal system of thinking is atuned to that they will be lead back to the Father by the Holy Spirit through the Son. Kevin,
I would love to know where your friend got this from.
On the basis of any research it would simply lead to "Allah" translating to "God".
Fr John has provided some great information for your friend to clarify it further :)
