Guys,
We will have our first Australian saint and I am so proud!
Pope Bennedict will canonise six new saints on this day.
Is anyone going to Rome for the ceremony?
Are there any other Australians who are currently beatified or to be beatified?

Would have liked to be there. I have a few friends doing pilgrimages and will be there at the canonisation.
Hopefully next time (if there is one).

The Catholic Education Office of WA has offered to take a handful of teachers to Rome for the canonisation (all expenses paid); I've applied. I'll know by the mid August if my application was successful or not.

This is so exciting, I went to one of the St Joseph's schools which was originally founded by Mary MacKillop (in Newtown, Sydney!).. I went to the girl's school. She used to teach at the St Joseph's boy's school just down the road from us.

My aunty went to the Rome trip.
I went Mary Mackillop College in Wakeley and we had the Sisters of St Joseph teach us. We would frequently go to North Sydney too.

I went to a Josephite primary school. In my time there the habits went and the guitars came in. I remember being taught to make my 1st Holy Communion standing and receiving on my hands, with my "partner" in a micro-mini white skirt.
I hope that one day the authentic charism of Bl. Mary gets revived, because in deformity it didn't have a lot going for it.
