Christ is amongst us!
Hi, I'm Collin, I'm 24, and I'm from Perth, Western Australia. I'm originally from Malaysia but I've been here in Perth for the past 2 years. I'm a final-year Software Engineering major at Edith Cowan University. I'm a great fan of music, and I session as a guitarist for a few acts. I'm a Melkite-Greek Catholic, although my ethnic background still begs to differ :p.

Hey Collin, welcome to The Catholic Forum! :)
Malaysian and Mekite Greek? Now that's a combination I have never seen before...
What music you into?

Hi Charbel! Thanks for the welcome.
Well, I was originally a Latin Catholic, but requested to transfer to the Melkite Catholic Church after journeying with them spiritually for 2 years. It is quite a combination but it happens. There are Irish Melkites in the U.S. (heaps of them), Irish Maronites, and of course, Maronites of African-American descent.
I'm into blues, funk, soul, and classic rock.

Here's a word for the wise.... never get into a discussion about music with Charbel. You'll find out why the hard way no doubt. ;) :p

Hi David & Melanie,
thanks for welcoming me into the fold. I would honestly love to get into a time of musical geekiness with Charbel. Try me. :D

Love the MC Hammer avatar! G'day Stephen. :D How you going anyway?
When's our next event by the way? Would be good to hear any developments going on for the radio station.

I'm meeting with Renato this Thursday to talk about the next fellowship evening, as a matter of fact. Something will be up on Facebook when we've nutted through a few details. I'll let you know more about the radio thing when I've talked it over a bit more with Renato on Thursday. ;)

Correct. I live in the era of 87-95. I know no other era or music. :)

Heaven have mercy on us all. '90s rock was something wasn't it.
@Stephen: Wonderful. Hope to see you guys then.

Ahh, 90s rock...
Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, the Offspring (pre Americana album), Radiohead, Weezer, Green Day.
'Twas truly a great decade to pick up and learn how to play the guitar too, I might add. ;)

Excuse me while I go have a lie down.
The band names alone are making me feel sick.

I only have one rock in my collection. Peter.
The rest is 80s funk, new jack swing and 90s rnb (of course only the good stuff)

I definitely love Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Guns & Roses, Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, and Weezer. Was never too fond of Radiohead but really loved REM, Barenaked Ladies, Hootie & The Blowfish and the Black Crowes as well.
I don't know about '80s funk but Parliament Funkadelic, Sly & the Family Stone, Tower of Power, and James Brown are some of my funky loves.
Other than that, I also rock out to Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The 4 Tops, Jackson 5, and some Bob Marley.
With regards to blues, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton and his manifestations, John Mayer, Robben Ford, Jonny Lang, and Joe Bonnamassa.
Classic rock? Where do I begin...
Also love Carole King, James Taylor, Raphael Saadiq, D'Angelo, and Usher.
