In Galatians 1:18-19, was this James also one of the 12 Apostles? We know there were two James' as Apostles. One's father was called Zebedee and the other one's father was called Alphaeus. Is the James mentioned in this verse one of the two Apostles called James?

This James is known as "James the Just", and yes: he was one of the apostles. According to the Protoevangelium of St. James (http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0847.htm), James was a son of Joseph from a marriage prior to the betrothal to Mary.

How can he be the son of St Joseph, when the fathers of the two Apostles called James are Zebedee & Alphaeus? I appreciate your answer but can you please elaborate on this, thanks. Is it written anywhere in the bible that Joseph had children prior to the betrothal to Mary?

You might find this article insightful: http://www.catholic.com/library/Brethren_of_the_Lord.asp

I might also suggest having a read of the Protoevangelium (linked above).

There is also another theory (which I happen to favour).

Alphaeus is the Greek version of the Aramaic name Clopas. Clopas' wife was named Mary and is listed as a "sister" of Our Lady in St. John 19:25. That would make her son a cousin of Our Lord.
