It's not on the topic of faith and reason exactly, but can someone PLEASE ask Charbel Raish to ask Fr. Mitch my question about John 6:60 and 1:14?

Fr. Mitch Pacwa's talk on Islam last night was dynamite! Can't wait for his talk tonight on the Torah, Bible and Quran.

Many people turn up?
Any particularly controversial questions or responses?

Full Church and a large crowd outside...
There was a Musilm bloke who asked a couple of questions. From what I remember, he asked:
1. When Jesus died on the cross, doesn't that mean God also died?
2. When Jesus died, was the world left without a God for 3 days?
That's about all I remember Dave.

Excellent questions.
When the famous Catholic apologist Frank Sheed ran his apologetics courses for street apologists he would ask them the exact same questions to make sure they understood the Catholic faith properly!
Yes. God died. Since God in His divine nature is utterly unchangeable Our Lord's death was something that He only underwent in His humanity. Pope St. Pius X issued a question and answer style catechism for the diocese of Rome whilst he was Pope. When we read the straight forward clarity of Pope St. Pius X we can see why the modernist heretics had such a hard time under him. Here is what his catechism (The Catechism of Pope St. Pius X) says:
Q: Did Jesus Christ suffer as God or as man? A: Jesus Christ suffered as man alone; as God He could neither suffer nor die.
I did a lengthy post on this issue on my blog here: http://davidobeid.blogspot.com/2008/05/letter-to-priest-who-incorrectly-and.html
(Putting aside the philosophical absurdity of God not being in some place.) Since the divine nature cannot change (let alone die) the death of God the Son in His human nature did not leave the world "godless" for 3 days.

Thanks Dave...
What ended up happening after you sent that letter to the priest?

He sent a message back through a friend saying that I wasn't respectful enough and so he wasn't going to answer me.
There was a bitter sweet private conversation between the Bishop and I that touched on the matter too.
The priest and I haven't discussed the matter since, but our relationship has come a remarkably long way since, and I have not heard that he has repeated the same error since then.
