When Our Lady appeared to the 3 children in Fatima and said:

"Pray the Rosary every day for peace in the world and for the end of the war"

Who was she giving this command to? The children only, or also to the whole world? If it was also to the whole world, would it be considered a sin if we do not pray the Rosary daily?

I have just started reading up on Our Lady of Fatima a couple minutes ago and was going to ask a similar question, what a coincidence :) if u want the whole story its here: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20000626_message-fatima_en.html

From what I have read so far I would say it is a command to all. I don't think its a sin, its just something we should all try to do to ensure salvation through devotion to Our Lady.

Hey Daniel :)

No such thing as coincidences! Thanks for the link.

If we are to obey our parents here on earth, I think obedience would also apply even more so to Our Holy Mother, would you agree?

and hello to you MelanieM,
You make a valid point, I never thought of it that way. In the end times, only those with faith and a strong dedication to Our Lady will be saved. There have been many stories, Hiroshima (WWII) when the Atomic Bomb was dropped, all houses were completely decimated except one that had a Rosary on the door and the people inside were praying the Rosary. Its the ultimate spiritual weapon if i can say that lol.

I agree. After Holy Mass, the Rosary is the ultimate spiritual weapon :) I've also heard too many similar stories to what you have told (don't ask me to reiterate any, I have already confessed to having a horrible memory)

So, I guess we wait for the experts to answer our questions

Wakey wakey :)

Yes, I have a feeling they are gathering vast amounts of material as we speak lol

Private revelation (which is what an apparition of Our Lady at Fatima is) only binds the person or people to whom the revelation is given. So it would have been a sin for the children to have ignored Our Lady's instruction, but not a sin for anyone else.

Of course, just because it is not a sin for us to not say the Rosary daily, it does not follow that we shouldn't say it, or that it won't provide us with numerous spiritual benefits.

I highly recommend St. Louis de Montfort's book "The Secret of the Rosary (http://www.the-secret-of-the-rosary.com/)".

This website lists all of the Papal documents on the Rosary: Click here. (http://www.hail-mary-rosaries.com/papal-documents-on-the-rosary.html)

If I ever tell my conversion story at Guardians and neglect to mention the Secret of the Rosary I'm going to blame Labban.
