Is there biblical evidence or elsewhere, where by stating there were actually '3' men who came to see Jesus.
It would be of great interest as to why there were 3. I know there were 3 gifts offered to Jesus.

There is no biblical evidence as such. However I wouldn't discount the reliability of small 't' traditions on matters such as these as it is most likely correct.

So why '3' exactly, is there any particular reason

Because that is what tradition has passed down. I assume that is most likely because there were in fact three present.

Small t tradition even gives us their names: Balthasar, Melchior and Caspar.
