When we eat Halal meats and other halal foods, do we run risk of opening ourselves up to any evil spirits that may be attached as a result of the islamic blessings that are given to the foods before they are put out in the shops?

No. You are safe.

1Corinthians 8:8-9 makes it clear there is nothing wrong with food offered to idols. Halal food, from what I understand, is offered to God, so if food offered to idols is ok, halal food is definitely fine.

If you live in Australia and eat chicken that you don't kill yourself (we happen to kill our own chicken) you are more than likely eating halal, since all the major poultry abattoirs in the country only output halal products.

Thanks David. I thought that might be the case with the halal foods everywhere now. But I had to ask! Cheers!

Halal Shmalal!

This is a rort if i ever saw one. Everthing and i mean everything is becoming Halal certified.

Whats next halal Bacon?

I personally refuse to eat at any restaurants that have halal certification on its walls. As a matter of fact i sent an email to boycott nandos merrylands because they become halal certified and removed bacon from the menu.

The owner is a friend of mine and even though he is not muslim he caved into the demands.

1 Month later he heard about the email, called me and assured me all signs would be removed and bacon will be reintroduced.

Halal meat is pretty much the norm in Malaysia. But either way, there is a distinct way to slaughter meat according to the Muslims, and ironically, its actually quite clean and healthy. I grew up on halal meat because I never liked pork that much anyway.

But here's the real kicker - Jews eat halal meat if they can't find kosher. Jews and Muslims don't like each other, but they can eat each other's meat. Pretty intense hey?

Like I said, pretty much all chicken in Australia is halal, and all pre-packed exported lamb is too. I don't have reason to think that domestic lamb and beef is any different either.

Like it or not, in Australia, unless you kill your own, or live on pork and/or crustaceans, you're eating halal. On the upside, as pointed out above there is nothing wrong with it, so enjoy.
