If there is anything I have learnt in my studies of the Great Empires especially those of western antiquity, it is that once Homosexuality and Abortion are embraced and accepted, that Empire as a rule must and will fall.

God absolutely destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah as it was notorious for homosexuality, debauchery among other un-natural practices. Also, There is absolutely no difference between abortion and the ancient pagan infant sacrifice to Moloch or Bhaal as shown within Jeremiah 7:31-34.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart. Jeremiah 1:5

Over 1 Billion babies have been aborted to date in modern society with an average of 45-50 million per year. These figures completely outweigh all genocides, the holocausts and casualties of all world wars and civil wars combined!

10 And he said to him: What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth to me from the earth. Genesis 4:10

33 Defile not the land of your habitation, which is stained with the blood of the innocent: neither can it otherwise be expiated, but by his blood that hath shed the blood of another. Numbers 35:21

This undoubtedly reveals God’s decree concerning the death of the innocent. The Old Testament also covers both issues in two consecutive verses;

21 Thou shalt not give any of thy seed to be consecrated to the idol Moloch, nor defile the name of thy God: I am the Lord. 22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind, because it is an abomination. Leviticus 18:21-22

The USA can be seen as the ‘new empire’ the hegemony, comparing New York City to the eternal city that is Rome.

The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire by English historian Edward Gibbon was published in 1776. Edward Gibbon "observed that the leaders of the empire gave into the vices of strangers, morals collapsed, laws became oppressive, and the abuse of power made the nation vulnerable to the barbarian hordes." This is also supported in the writings of great Roman historians such as Livy and Cicero.

In Rome under Emperor Justinian, entertainment grew bawdier and more bizarre. Orgies and love feasts were common. Homosexuality and bestiality were openly practiced.

In Greece, the music of the young people became wild and coarse. Popular entertainment was brutal and vulgar. Promiscuity, homosexuality, and drunkenness became a daily part of life.

In Carthage, worship turned from Baal to the earth goddess Tanit. "Sacrifices to the goddess of fertility were supposed to ensure productivity, long life, and even greater profits."

These are just few examples I found within the Ancient world, all three empires being considered the greatest of western antiquity.

My question is; Are we not doing the same right now…?

The trend toward approval (not just tolerance) of the intolerable sin of homosexuality is apparent. I blogged about it recently:

What is happening to the world? I don't understand why the gays keep pushing for marriage. Gay marriage is the biggest slap in the face to God. It disobeys His very first commandment to mankind and then mocks His Blessed Sacraments.

27 And God created man to His own image: to the image of God He created him: male and female He created them. 28 And God blessed them, saying: Increase and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it[...] Genesis 1:27-28
