Does anyone here do beach fishing with artificial lures with much success?

I'd love to compare notes. I came a cross a load of hard and soft lures fairly cheaply on ebay a few months ago at about the same time I picked up a couple of beach rods dirt cheap at the fishing and hunting shop in Goulburn and I am keen to try artificial lure beach fishing as the weather warms up a bit.

I've only done beach fishing with bait and that works. Bait like chicken breast, yellowtail, pilchards and squid would work quite well in the beach waters. I have only used lures off a boat and they work, not so sure though about the beach.
