Just a follow up....

Although I have heard it twice in the past, last night's talk was probably one of the best talks I have ever heard.

I HIGHLY recommend getting a copy on DVD. The content is irrefutable and is dynamite.

The Tree of Life is something all Christians are to be aware of, its fruits (baptism and Eucharist) and where it can be found.

Praise God!

Anyone know what the topic is for Guardians tonight?

Yes :)

The Glory of the Maronite Liturgy

Blessed Mary MacKillop Hall @ St. Charbel's Church
142 Highclere Ave
Punchbowl, Australia

Have you ever thought about those times when you’ve gone to Holy Mass and said to yourself ‘what just happened?' We go to Mass, and, unless we actually know what’s going on, it actually seems to be more like a fitness workout: we stand, we sit, we stand, we sit, we might kneel, we then stand, sit, stand, sit, etc…

Oftentimes I’ve wondered about how the Mass was put together, or why it has this certain structure. Why isn’t there j...ust a homily, and then Communion? Why do we have to have all these set prayers and readings crowded around those two parts? Why do we stand, sit, bow kneel, etc?

Also, why is it that the Mass for the Roman Catholics is different to the Catholics of the Eastern churches, such as the Maronite Church? Why aren’t they all the same?

If you have these questions, or even if you don’t have these questions, then the next Guardians talk is definitely for you. Guardians presents 'The Glory of the Maronite Liturgy, an eye opening talk focusing on the Maronite Liturgy. The Maronite Liturgy is rich in its tradition and can even be traced back to the Liturgy that was being celebrated by the very Apostles of Jesus Christ.

Presenting the topic will be Shidyaaq Yuhanna. He is a seminarian of the Maronite Church who has studied Liturgy, and has many fascinating credentials to his name. He is definitely a noteworthy speaker on a topic that we could all benefit from.

So come along to Guardians on Wednesday the 25th of August at 7.30 pm to learn all the whats, whys and hows of the Maronite Liturgy.

God Bless you,

*All previous Guardians DVDs will be available as well as DVDs from the Fullness of Truth Australian Tour"

Hi Charbel, what ended up happening with that little debate outside Guardians last night with that bible Christian? Did we make any progress?

That sounds interesting. What happened?

A bible Christian threw some verses at the Speaker last night during Q & A time towards the end. The topic was about Heaven,Hell, Purgatory and about the Blessed Mother. He threw a couple of verses out of context like 1 Timothy 2:5(about mediator) and another verse when Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life.....and that you don't need Mary only Christ to get to heaven. So at the end a couple of us started debating him and we took it outside...eventually he had about 5 guys debating him. I left before the debate outside finished so I just wanted to know what happened. :)

pffft....

I can't imagine Fr. McShane having any difficulty dealing with low brow arguments like those.

You shouldn't have ganged up on the bloke outside. If he copped a thrashing he will more than likely put it down to the weight of numbers instead of force of evidence.

i think Bishop Sheen was pretty accurate when he said only hundreds hate the catholic church but millions of people hate what they think is the catholic church.

Fr McShane really pushed The Blessed Mary last night and her role in our faith and salvation.
You could argue that the topic was more about Mary and less about hell and heaven.

So it is understandable that Fr McShane left the guy a little confused at the end probably thinking "you guys have waffled on about Mary for the past hour or so and not once mentioned Christ"

Its hard for a bible Christian to come to guardians without some knowledge of the catholic faith and not to think we dont worship Mary. And its extra hard trying to teach them the faith in one or two questions at the end. The guy should have done some homework. The questions he asked were the usual low brow protestant ones.

Fr McShane called him stubborn and hard hearted which was right. He wasnt there to be educated but was trying to prove us all wrong with one or two questions.

A similiar scene occurred during question time on a talk about the Virgin Mary given by Fr Shara.

That's quite an interesting way of looking at it... although I am curious to know, on what grounds would these "hundreds" have to hate the Catholic Church, as opposed to the "millions"?

The hundreds know the truth but would rather do evil, does not satan know what the truth really is? but he hates the truth,he too has followers.

The millions think the Church is against freedom, against the right of a women to 'choose' but dont relise that you are only free within the truth e.g. you are free to draw a triangle on conditon it has three sides if you give it more than three sides you will realise that your not that free are you.

Within our own Christian circles they think we worship Mary, they think the pope is the antichrist and for such things they hate what they think is the church.

At Mass last night I'm sure they announced that it's the second last guardians talk? Is that for the year or for ever?

DavidObeid
29th November 2010, 05:28 PM
It better not be the last one ever... I've got a surprise for if/when I get invited to speak there again that I can't wait to share. (And no, I'm not telling anyone, not even Labban or Raish.)
